LSNF participates in the Ronald McDonald House of Greater Hudson Valley’s Christmas in July Party!

The Ronald McDonald House of the Greater Hudson Valley (RMHGHV) hosted a festive Christmas in July event on Friday, July 19th.  RMHGHV, conveniently close to Maria Fareri Children's Hospital, offers families a place to stay while their child receives essential medical care. The twelve-bedroom home, nearly always fully occupied at night, is constantly in need of supplies for the kitchen, toy room, and pantry. The House received an abundance of donated items during the holiday season, but as summer approached, fewer volunteers and supplies for the meal program were available.

During the month of July, supporters were invited to make donations to the Meals that Heal program, sponsor a family, or buy items from the Amazon Wish List. These donations supported the upkeep of the House's supplies and guaranteed that visiting families had everything they needed.

The Little Saint Nick Foundation (LSNF) gave away free Squishmallows to all kids under 12 who brought donations to the event. Over the years, LSNF has given hundreds of Squishmallows and over 1,300 St. Nick Gift Bags to Ronald McDonald Houses in Orlando, Tampa, New York, and New Jersey. This year’s event was sponsored by DARCARS Automotive Group, with locations in Mt. Kisco and Greenwich.

The Christmas in July event included a BBQ provided by the Yonkers Fire Department, a Hawaiian lei created by Marla Beth Designs, an ice cream sundae station provided by Camp Kiwi, and an American Christmas ornament decorating station. Attendance was free in lieu of donations, and attendees enjoyed the festive decor, took a tour of the House, and awaited a special visit from Santa Claus.

For those who were unable to attend the event, participation in Christmas in July is still possible by:

  • Purchasing items from the Amazon Wish List and having them shipped directly to the House.
  • Sponsoring a family of the Meals that Heal program and donating directly to the House.

“Christmas in July is a fun and festive way for the community to donate to our House and help us as we continue to support our families when their child is receiving medical care,” said Brittany Moretti, Executive Director of RMHGHV. “Our supporters are so generous during the holiday season, but we wanted to create excitement around giving back during the summer when things are less hectic, our supplies start to dwindle, and fewer volunteers sign up to cook meals in our kitchen.”
